Frequently Asked Questions
Do you work on rare or antique books?
Yes. I regularly work on older and delicate volumes. Not all rare and antique books are suitable for rebinding. If a project is not recommended, I will be transparent and will possibly recommend a protective enclosure instead.
Do you use archival material?
Yes. I use archival-quality papers, adhesives, book cloths, and leathers. I prioritize methods consistent with traditional bookbinding and modern conservation practices.
How long does a project take?
Turnaround time depends on the scope of the work and my current commission schedule. If you have a deadline for the project, make sure to include that in your message.
Will repairing my book make it look new?
Repairs are designed to stabilize and strengthen a book while respecting its age, history, and use. A full rebind or redesign can always be requested.
How much will my project cost?
All work is quoted individually after evaluation. General pricing ranges are provided on the website under Services, but an exact quote is given only after reviewing the book itself.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes. Accepted projects will require a 50% deposit with the remainder due upon completion.
How many projects do you take at a time?
I accept a limited number of commissions each month to ensure quality and care. I will always communicate timelines with you if I am booking in advance.
Care & Handling
Proper care and handling ensure the longevity of books. Handle books with clean, dry hands. Support the spine when opening a book. Store books upright on shelves away from sunlight, humidity, and excessive heat. Protective enclosures are recommended for fragile, valuable and frequently handled books.
